Parent helpers play an important role in supporting the learning programs we offer our students. We understand that many parents and carers are busy with work and other commitments and we value any time that you are willing to give.
Some of the ways in which parents help at our school are:
Daily reading with students in the Junior and Senior Learning Centre. We try to maximise the amount of time our students spend reading with an adult each day.
Changing Home Readers in the Junior Learning Centre. This is a process that happens each day. With parents offering their assistance in changing student readers, our teachers are able focus their attention and efforts on delivering the daily teaching and learning programs.
Perceptual Motor Program (PMP). This program is offered to our Foundation - Year 2 students on a weekly basis and is heavily reliant on parent support to operate. This program is a strategy to assist the development of children's gross motor skills and therefore assist with the development of fine motor skills, essential in the learning of reading and writing.
As well as the weekly opportunities to engage with our students and offer your support to our learning programs, parents are also encouraged to volunteer their time to attend excursions and camps throughout the year.
Working With Children Check.
All parent and community helpers must have a current Working With Children Check in order to participate in school events. This can be arranged simply and without cost to you by submitting an application online at http://www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au/.
If you are interested in offering your support to our students and learning programs please come and visit any one of our staff members to find our how you can help!
