Special Events at Garfield Primary
BOOK WEEK
Book Week is a celebration that has brought children and books together across Australia since 1945. At Garfield Primary we celebrate book week by creating colourful displays, competitions, telling stories and a parade where we all (students and staff) dress up as our favourite book characters!
NAIDOC WEEK
NAIDOC Week celebrations are held around the country each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. At Garfield we celebrate through art, literacy and inviting special guests.
GARFIELD'S GOT TALENT
During Term 3 Garfield's Got Talent is a talent competition that is run and judged by our senior students. It allows students the opportunity to share their own special talents and interests with the rest of the school. Previous acts have included singing, dancing, telling jokes, poetry, science experiments, playing instruments and more.
FOOTY COLOURS DAY
Fight Cancer Foundation's Footy Colours Day is a national fundraising campaign which helps kids with cancer. Garfield's SRC organise this day with the PE teacher. All students dress in their favourite footy team colours and we have a parade. This is also when the Garfield Football League play their grand final, with students inviting grandparents, parents and special friends.
