Buddy Program

Garfield Primary School has a very long standing Buddy Program based on the Alannah and Madeline Foundation "Better Buddies Program".

Better Buddies works by pairing new primary school students with an older buddy, helping students entering their first year of primary school to feel safe, valued and connected to their school community.

At Garfield Primary School, our Year 6 students are buddied with our Foundation students to build a connection that will support their transition to school and their social and emotional development throughout the year. They act as positive role models and work closely with the preps helping them in all aspects of their school life and making them feel safe and secure in their new school environment.
