Digital Technologies

At Garfield Primary School, we are committed to preparing students for a digital future by providing access to a variety of devices and purposeful learning experiences. Our students use iPads and Chromebooks to explore, create, problem-solve and collaborate across all areas of the curriculum.

Digital tools are integrated into classroom learning to enhance engagement and build skills in areas such as coding, digital storytelling, online safety, and basic programming. Younger students begin with hands-on tools like robotics and coding apps, while older students take on more complex challenges such as data collection, website design and multimedia creation.

We are excited to introduce Digital Technologies as a specialist subject in 2025. All students from Foundation to Year 6 will participate in regular, dedicated lessons with a specialist teacher. These lessons will follow the Victorian Curriculum, supporting students to develop the skills and confidence they need to thrive in a digital world.

At Garfield Primary, we believe technology is a powerful tool for learning, creativity and communication. Through both classroom integration and specialist instruction, we are helping students become curious, capable and responsible digital citizens.
