Student leaders

We have a number of opportunities for students to develop leadership skills and take on additional responsibilities at Garfield Primary School.

 

Year 6 student leaders

Each year, there are a number of specific leadership roles that our Year 6 students apply to fill for the upcoming year. These roles include

School Captains x 2

School Vice-Captains x 2

Green House Captains x 2

Gold House Captains x 2

Cultural Leader

Fire safety leader

Environmental Leader

Aim For The Stars Leader

 

Student Representative Council

Each Year, we have a Student Representative Council that is formed by interested Year 6 students. Our Student Representative Council perform a number of tasks, including:

  • Fundraising for special events and playground upgrades
  • Fundraising for different charities
  • Organising our annual Book Fair
  • Organising and paying for a Visiting Author to visit during Book Week
  • Providing a student voice for important considerations such as playground and equipment upgrades

Our Student Representative Council includes the following roles:

  • President
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Student members
  • Teacher leader

Class Captains

Each class have 2 Class Captains that change each term. These are students identified as having demonstrated our school values to a high level and providing a positive role-model for classmates. These students take on some additional responsibilities within the classroom but will also attend a Student Representative Council meeting to provide a voice for their classmates.
